Chickasaw Mud Puppies

From the early 80s through 1991, Athens duo Chickasaw Mudd Puppies earned legions of adoring fans by “dragging old-timey porch music kicking and screaming into the 21st century.” After two well-received albums, White Dirt and 8 Track Stomp, produced by R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe and Willie Dixon, and relentless touring, the band band went on hiatus for two decades. However, the inclusion of Mudd Puppies songs in the films, The Mechanic and Tracing Cowboys, sparked renewed interest and the swamp rockers, joined by drummer Alan “Lumpy” Cowart, have been touring again for the past decade.
